Harry Orland King

(1890-1976)

Born in Chicago, Harry had a varied business career before becoming the third husband of Isabella Ferguson Greenway in 1939.  Some of his jobs included working for one of the early truck manufacturers, Brockway Motor Company, and as Vice President of the Bassick Company in Connecticut, which manufactured car and truck parts.  He was very interested in mining and served on the boards of several companies.  When Igor Sikorsky began experimenting in helicopters, it is said that Harry King was one of his investors. Isabella and Harry became acquainted when she was in Congress in the 1930s.  During that time, Harry served in Roosevelt’s National Recovery Administration and, during the war, on the War Production Board.  Isabella was his second wife, his first marriage having ended in divorce.  The couple split their time between Tucson, Arizona, and New York.  Harry is buried in Fairfield, Connecticut.
